Our Journey
It all started in Zimbabwe.
The Benau Zimbabwe Project was conceived in 1997 by Bongani Mpofu, then MD of PBR Communications, and Jan Bender, MD of Benau A/S of Denmark.
Following extensive technical and commercial preparations, the two companies finally formed a joint venture – Benau Zimbabwe, in June of 1998, with the consent of the Zimbabwe Investment Center and Danish International Development Agency.
Benau Zambia followed in the year 2000 and Benau Tanzania in 2003.
A specialist Electrical, AV and Data cabling company, Symmetra Electrika, was formed in 2004.
In 2006, a licensed Data Service provider, Dataspeed Ltd was formed in Zambia, becoming the first such license holder.
In 2008, Benau Capital, a technology financing company was formed.
In 2009, Broadlands Transmission, a Data Service Provider was formed in Zimbabwe, a joint-venture with a licensed Telecommunications provider.
2012 saw the creation of SparkAfrika, a content developer and digital advertising specialist. In 2015, Seven Bridges was formed focused on digital advertising infrastructure.
Our mission is to seek partnerships across Africa to create a truly African Engineering company - Benau Africa.
